Camping

Bryan and I went camping this weekend and had a wonderful time! The weather was great until last night when it started to rain. We had to pack up today in the rain but it wasn't too bad. We slept really well last night listening to the rain on the camper.

When we arrived, we checked into the office. Their fall decorations were cute!

This is our campsite. We loved being under the trees because the leaves were falling all around us.

Roxy loves camping!

I took this picture standing at the office. That is our camper straight ahead.

They have a big waterslide and pool!

Finally, Bryan cooked all weekend and it was great!

New Devotional Book

Saturday I went to the Lifeway store and bought a daily devotional book. I have been thinking for some time now that I need to stop daily and reflect on God and his word. I guess you could call it a goal that I have for myself. So I bought a cute devotional book called Be Still...and Let Your Nail Polish Dry. It is a devo for women on the go. Now I have no excuse for not spending five minutes a day reflecting on God and his word.

So last night, I read the first devotion called The Awesomest! The first devotion was about a women who was driving in snow so thick that she couldn't see the road in front of her. She began to worry and started to pray that she made it home safely. To help ease herself, she turned her radio on to the local Christian music station. Playing on the radio was a song by Rich Mullins where he was singing about Our God is an awesome God! She then began to think about what a superhero God really is and he kept her safe that night. He kept her safe through a difficult situation and she praises his awesomeness!

The prayer was : Thank you Father for seeing us through the storms of life, both great and small. Thank you for being the Hero of all heroes, mighty and powerful. Great is your faithfulness, Lord. You truly are an awesome God!

Bryan and I have been through some storms in our lives and we have survived. Sometimes I forget to thank God for seeing us through those tough times. He has a plan for us, we just have to be patient and follow his lead. I feel like some of our storms has led us to the point we are today which is adoption. I am so excited about adopting that I can't call it a storm but it is challenging at times. After reading this devotion, I can honestly say that God will protect us and take care of us in his time and his way. The storms have shaped us into the people we are and the kind of people we want to be. God is an awesome God!!!

Birthday Baby Shower

Last night, I had the best birthday ever! Some of my closest friends and family got together and planned me a birthday/baby shower. We met at a restaurant and had a wonderful dinner. Then we went to my friend Kendra's house for coffee and cake. Everyone brought me an essential baby gift. They called it baby basics. They got me all things I would need in the beginning such as diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, burp clothes, and some gowns. They wanted to make sure that I was prepared for when we get "the call." It was wonderful! I loved opening all the baby presents and thinking about how great it is going to be when I get to use them. I am so lucky to have friends that love me and wanted to help me prepare for our bundle of joy! Here are some pictures from the evening.

This is everyone at the restaurant.

These are all my presents!

The two grandmothers were so excited!

Present time!

My friend Betsy ordered these burp clothes from etsy, which I now love!

This blanket was made by Bryan's grandmother who passed away several years ago. My mother-in-law has kept it and surprised me with it last night. It was very special! It also had little booties to match.

One last group shot.

Thanks to all my wonderful friends who planned this night! It was so specia
l!

Birthday Cake #2

Just wanted to share with everyone my second birthday cake! This homemade chocolate poundcake came from my wonderful grandmother who makes me one every year. The center is also filled with the chocolate icing. It is to die for!!!
I guess I will just put in extra hours at the YMCA, it will be worth it!

Check out my cute cake carrier! A friend of mine made it for me and this is the first time that I have been able to use it. Thanks Carrie!

Finally, Roxy had fun the other night tearing up her favorite monkey. She has had it for years and it has seen its better day. Notice all the white stuffing laying around and then her innocent look like "what did I do?" It's like having a child to clean up after!

Shopping Day

Today my mom and I went shopping together. We began our journey looking for nothing but ended up finding lots of good things. We started off at Pottery Barn for Kids and found this cute nightlight and lamp for the nursery. I already have the bedding to match in the nursery. With all the different colors, I thought it would be cute for a boy or a girl (even with the pink on it)! I love the little birds and trees.

Of course I was spoiled again today! My mom always treats me with some nice things when we go shopping together. My birthday is Friday, so I got lots of early birthday gifts. We hit up Ann Taylor Loft, Macy's, and even Nordstroms. It was great and I really appreciate everything that my wonderful mother does for me. She is great and extremely generous. I love spending the day with her. Thanks Mom, You're the Best!!!

Early Birthday Surprise!

Today at work, my coworkers surprised me with a cake and snacks for my birthday. My birthday is not until September 17 but we already had a meeting scheduled for today so we would all be together.

This is Damon who is my team member. We have been working together for three years now and it is great! He was in charge of getting the cake and it was wonderful!

I loved my pink and yellow cake! Notice that it says Happy Birthday Pruitt. This is because we always call each other by our last names. We joke that we don't even know most of our first names!

Thanks guys for the surprise!

Dad's Winning Photo!

Yesterday I told you about how my dad won a photo contest for Pepsi. This is his winning photo. My dad has been a firefighter for 25 years and is finally retiring this year. He has been working for Pepsi for 15 years and is a mechanic. He submitted this photo into a contest called "Power of One Photo Contest." We all voted for him online and he came in first place!

Congratulations Dad!!!

Wednesday Chit Chat!

Just few things that I want to share:

  • I love cardiodance class at the YMCA on Wednesdays. Our instructor is Jennifer and she is so much fun! She can easily make you forget about all of your worries and just have fun!
  • My dad has won a photo contest for Pepsi. I am not sure of the details but I believe it was an employee competition and he won first place. His photo was called "firefighter." Hopefully I will get to see the picture soon. (My email will not load it!) Congratulations Dad!
  • I love that I have received some comments on my blog from other waiting moms. It reassures me that I am not the only one waiting on the call. Good luck to all of you! I will keep you all in my prayers.
  • I love a four day week! Tomorrow is already Thursday and I feel like we just started! My kids are great so far and I am really enjoying this school year.
  • I love that our camper is back at our house where she belongs! This weekend we finally moved her home and cleaned her up. She is ready to go camping!

Happy Wednesday

Good Eatin!

Check out my dinner tonight! They were great. Bryan smoked ribs all day long. We took them over to Scott and Angela's house for dinner. I made potato salad and baked beans. Everything was really good.

Little Braeden slept most of the time. Angela said he always keeps his hands above his head. He is just so cute!

Labor Day Plans

I am very excited about this weekend for several reasons.

  1. It's a long weekend! NO WORK ON MONDAY!!!

  2. We are staying at home. We usually travel every Labor Day weekend and we decided to stay at home this weekend and relax.

  3. Saturday night we are going to grill out with Scott and Angela. They are the new parents of baby Braeden. Bryan and I are going to take food to their house and hang out.

  4. Hopefully we will get our camper to our house this weekend. Right now our camper is being stored at my in-laws house because we were having some work done at our house. Now we should be able to park it in the backyard and start cleaning it up for some upcoming fall camping trips.

I received my new book today in the mail, The Happiest Baby on the Block. It is one that our case worker Michelle recommended that we read. I will let you know what I learn....
