5 Months 2 Weeks....

Waiting is hard and there isn't a day or hour that goes by when I don't imagine our baby or think about the "the call."  Filling my days and trying to stay upbeat can be exhausting at times.  For the most part, I continue on with my day to day activities and try to enjoy life right now.  Some days I am really down and some days I am grateful for this time that Bryan and I have alone to enjoy each other.

Having said all of that....I can't believe it's already been 5 months and 2 weeks of waiting for Bryan and I.  Honestly, it has flown by!  Everyday I tell myself that I am one day closer to our baby and that surely it will happen sooner than later.  Our lives have been wonderful during this waiting time.  We have been remodeling a house, traveling, and doing lots of fun things together but I can't wait for the two of us to become three.  There are moments of jealously of all of my friends who have babies but for the most part I try to stay positive.  I really feel blessed that Bryan and I have been chosen to go through this experience.  My faith is getting stronger and stronger everyday and I have this adoption process to thank for that.

Funny thing happened tonight.  The waiting game has been on my mind all day today.  I have been thinking things like why hasn't a birth mother chosen us yet?  Is there something wrong with us?  Should we change some things on our profile? I even sent an email to our case worker just to check in and see if there was anything we should be doing.  Just a few moments ago I checked our agency blog and there was a post titled why are we waiting?  I honestly believe that post was for me because it gave me the encouragement that God truly is in control, not the agency.  I already knew that but sometimes it helps to be reminded! Bryan and I don't need to change a thing because when our time is right, the perfect child will enter our family.  Until then, we will just continue to wait in faith.

Have a great week!

My Thanksgiving

Bryan and I have had a wonderful day today!  It all began around 11:30 when my family came over to our house  for a wonderful Thanksgiving lunch. This was the first time that Bryan and I hosted Thanksgiving. Bryan grilled a turkey and it turned out great!  The food was amazing, vegetables, casseroles, and salads.  We ate till we were stuffed!

My dining table ready for lunch.

My mom and dad, Bonny & Gerald.

Cousin Aleia and her boyfriend Daniel.

Cousin Anna and my mom.

Aunt Melissa with her daughters, Aleia & Anna.

Bryan and I loved hosting Thanksgiving this year!  We are so thankful to have family close so we can spend our holidays together.

After dinner, we went to get a Christmas tree which is a family tradition.  We always get real trees on Thanksgiving day from the Christmas Tree Farm.

I shared with Santa today what I wanted for Christmas this year.  Of course I said a baby and he said he would try very hard to make that wish come true for me.

I am thanking God today for my wonderful family and traditions that we share.  Days like today make me really appreciate how lucky I am and how much I have to be thankful for.  Bryan is an amazing husband who I am thankful for every single day.  My parents and in-laws are the best!  I am so thankful that we can all spend holidays together instead of rushing around trying to spend time with everyone in different places.  Maybe next year, we will have a little one to include in all of our family traditions!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!  Let the Christmas decorating begin!!!

Nursery Painting

I can't stand it any longer...check out our nursery!

This weekend a co-worker of mine, Christina, began painting our nursery walls. Christina minored in Art and doesn't usually paint for people personally.  I am very lucky to have her and her talent!

Next week she will finish the leaves and she is going to add some cute little birds that match my crib bedding. She is doing a wonderful job!  I can't wait till it's finished.  Check out Christina's blog on my list, Fresh Face.

Christina is also an amazing photographer and I can't wait for her to take pictures of my baby!

Stella & Dot

Tonight, my friend Kendra hosted a Stella & Dot jewelry party at her house. My mom and I went together and we loved the jewelry! I had never heard of it before tonight. I wanted one of everything but instead, my mom bought me the beautiful gold necklace in the picture.

My charm will have a "S" on it and the stone will be clear. Whenever we get our baby, I want to order it's birthstone to add to the necklace.
If you have never looked at Stella & Dot jewelry before, I would highly recommended checking it out. http://www.stelladot.com/
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

New Design

Ok, so I know it's a little early but I have been waiting to use this new Christmas background for my blog. It was a freebie but I think it is so cute! Christmas is just right around the corner and I am so excited for the holidays!
Bryan and I were living with my parents last year during the holidays, so I didn't get to decorate. This year I have a new house to decorate and I am so ready to get started.
Happy Tuesday!

Adoption Family Fun Day!

Yesterday was Christian Adoption Services Family Fun Day! The event was held at a beautiful park where they served us lunch and then introduced all the families and their new editions for this year. Bryan and I attended plus my mom and dad, they encourage us as a waiting family to participate in agency events. It was great hearing everyone's adoption story. The more I am involved with the agency, the more people I meet and get to know. I love how Bryan and I are becoming part of the adoption community through our agency. It is like an extended family because of a common bond. The babies were precious and I can't wait to share my adoption story one day!

The park was near my grandmother's house, so on the way home we stopped by to see her. This is Grandma Peggy, my mom's mom.

Now I am enjoying my Sunday afternoon. We had a great church service this morning and then we shopped for groceries. My in-laws are coming over for dinner tonight. Bryan is grilling us a steak. Yum! I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Last night, I got together with my mom and some friends to decorate small Christmas trees for a mission project for church. As a service project, we are going to take these trees to all the widows and widowers for Christmas in memory of their lost spouse. Decorating the trees was a lot of fun. We ate pizza and spent the evening working on our trees in my mom's garage.

The final products!

Yesterday was also my dad's birthday! Happy Birthday dad, I love you!

Happy Day!

I love our adoption agency blog. Everyday I check it just to see whats going on and I love the days when they post pictures of the families with their new babies.

Today there are pictures of a couple with their new baby boy! I know that this is their first child and they have been waiting for a while. I can't imagine how happy they are right now!

It really brings me joy when I get to see these photos because I know one day (hopefully soon) that will be Bryan and I. The day that I get to share our good news with the world will be one of the happiest days of my life!

Weekend Recap

Bryan and I traveled to the beach this weekend for a family wedding. Luckily, the wedding was close to our beach house, so we could stay there. I wanted to share a few photos of my parent's beach house. They bought it about a year and a half ago and we love it!

This is our beach ride! It is legal on the streets, so you can take it everywhere.

Carrie and Shawn were the bride and groom. The groom was my father-in-laws's oldest son (Bryan's step-brother). The day was beautiful and we had a great time.

This is Bryan and me with my in-laws, Carol and Paul (Bryan's mom and step dad).

Finally, my mom surprised me with this precious diaper bag. I love the colors!

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

I am not feeling that great today. I have a sore throat, headache, and runny nose. Hopefully it is just sinuses but the sore throat has me a little worried. I made it through work, but it was rough! So my wonderful husband took care of dinner. He made soup and grilled cheese. He's a keeper!
Thanks babe! You're the best!
