Thanks Paulette!

I love homemade gifts and look at what Paulette made for Baby Will!

Paulette is such a talented person when it comes to crafts and sewing.  I love the diaper holder with his name embroidered on it.  This is such a special gift!

Will's First Beach Trip

This weekend we went to our family beach house for a long holiday weekend.  Bryan and I were a little bit nervous about taking Will to the beach at such a young age but then we thought we should start him early.  The beach is like our second home.  Will did great!  Luckily, he traveled very well.  He slept most of the time in the car but we did have to stop to feed him a couple of times.

We took our first family photo on the beach!

My mom and dad were there this weekend with us.
They enjoyed spending some quality time with Will and doing a little spoiling!

I love that big yawn!

Will loved sleeping on the front porch in his basket.  The ceiling fan was on and there was a great breeze.  He would get so relaxed!

Roxy also likes to hang out on the front porch.  She sticks her head through the railings and watches the people and cars go by.

Sunday Bryan and daddy went fishing and caught supper for that night.  There is nothing better than fresh fish straight from the ocean to the dinner plate!

We did a lot of relaxing!

The weekend was wonderful!  It was a very successful first beach trip with our new son.  Sometimes Bryan and I just stop and still can't believe that he is all ours.  We are so in love with him and now we can't imagine our lives without him.

Special Moment #2

Another special moment that I wanted to share with you was the first time that Bryan and I got to feed Will at the hospital.  In the beginning, Will was only taking about 1 ounce of formula.  Now though, he will sometimes take up to 3!  He is a growing boy!

Happy Birthday Aiden!

Today is Aiden's first birthday!  We celebrated his birthday on Sunday at his house.  Ashley did a wonderful job planning a very cute 1st birthday party.  The theme was turtles!

Will even went for a few minutes on Sunday to make his first appearance.  He did wonderful, of course he slept the whole time but it was his first birthday party.

Our Story...

On May 5, 2011 my cell phone rang at school around 3:15. It was our adoption agency.  They informed me that there was a birthmother that wanted to meet us the next day.  Of course, Bryan and I said yes.  I had waited for that moment for so long!  That night, I baked cookies and put together a photo album full of pictures of our nursery to share with her.  Needless to say, we did not sleep that much that night.  We were so excited!

The next day, we had plans to meet around lunchtime.  There is no way to describe the emotions that Bryan and I were feeling on the way there.  When we arrived, Gretchen and Doris from the agency met us first.  They gave us a little bit of info and then waited on her to show.  When our birthmother arrived, we hugged and she started to cry.  She was so sweet!  We talked for about two hours and she had already told us that we were going to be the parents of her son!  I even got to feel him kick while we were at lunch.  Everyone was very comfortable and we really just talked about everything.  The conversation flowed very easily.  The exciting part was that she told us she was due in one week!

The next week creeps by and Friday morning, May 13, 2011, I was headed to work when I heard my cell phone ring.  It was Bryan.  I could immediately tell that it was time.  She had Will at 5:45 am that morning and the agency was on their way to the hospital.  I turned around and headed back home.  Bryan and I were completely giddy by this point.  We just couldn't wait to get to the hospital to meet our son!  I had to quickly find a sub for school that day because I had not planned on being out.  Thank goodness I work with some wonderful people who helped me take care of my kids.

When we arrived at the hospital, we met up with Doris and Gretchen and went inside.  Will was inside the nursery being fed and checked out.  We got to see him through the nursery window and I was immediately in love!  He was perfect and I just couldn't wait to get my hands on him.  The hospital treated us so great!  They assigned us a hospital room so that we could stay with Will.  Bryan and I were fortunate enough to spend a few moments with our birthmother. It was very difficult to express our emotions into words.  She was amazing and so strong!  I really admire her and pray for her daily!

That weekend we stayed in the hospital with Will.  Bryan ran home and got us a change of clothes and some supplies.  Of course, I was not leaving my baby.  I slept in the bed at night and poor Bryan slept in the chair in the room.  We really had a wonderful hospital experience!

Sunday morning, we were discharged around 10:00 and headed home.
That's our adoption story.  Bryan and I could not have asked for a more perfect experience!

Check us out!

Bryan and I have been waiting for this moment.  Check us out on our adoption agency blog!

It is the announcement of our son Will!

Yucky Day!

What a yucky, yucky day!  I know we need the rain and my flowers are loving it but I don't like it!  It's a cold, damp day and it's May.  Hopefully the sunshine will be back soon!

Mother's Day Cookout

Tonight our family and friends came over for a cookout to celebrate our mothers.  The food was good and the company was even better!  We had a great time!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

Happy Mother's Day

I know that everyone says the same thing, but I truly have one of the best mom's in the world!  She is always there for me and supports us in everything we do.  She is so giving and cares about other people.  Her heart is huge!  We always give her a hard time about how she is involved in everything, but I admire her for that.  She is always willing to donate her time and energy for the church, family, and friends.  She is a natural leader.       I am so lucky to have you as a mom!

I also could not have asked for a better mother-in-law.  Carol is so loving and also giving.  I admire her for the way she raised her son because Bryan is a wonderful man and I owe a lot of that to her.  She is a caregiver and loves to take care of people.  I am so happy for Carol because she is living a wonderful life!  She is newly married to a wonderful man Paul and they are living life to the fullest!

Tonight Bryan and I are having everyone over to our house for a Mother's Day cookout.  It is going to be a wonderful day to spend together and celebrate our wonderful mothers!

Check one off the list!

I called today and got "Baby Pruitt" a doctor.  I ended up basing my decision on friends recommendations and the location and hours of the pediatricians office.  I spoke with a nurse and she said that the doctor who was highly recommended was accepting new patients.  They took all of our information and just said to call when we need them.  She was very nice on the phone and was really excited when I told her that we were waiting on an adoption.

Check pediatrician off the list!

Bryan's Latest Creation

As most of you know, Bryan loves to cook!  He is constantly trying new things and they are always very good.  One of Bryan's favorite appetizers whenever we go out to eat is Ahi Tuna.  Tonight he tried it at home and it looked amazing!  He even garnished it with wasabi.

Another New Door

About a year and a half ago, Bryan and I bought a 1970's brick home that was in good shape but needed some major updating.  We have knocked down a wall, painted, installed new floors, replaced light fixtures, and the list could go on and on.  Still today we are making some small updates that I think make such a wonderful difference in the look of this home.
Well, yesterday Bryan installed another new door.   It is the back door going out to our patio and it looks so fresh and clean!  I know most people wouldn't get excited over a new door but we do!  We enjoy working around the house and making this house our home that we love.

I also planted some flowers but I am not finished yet so pictures will be coming soon!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and restful Sunday!
