CAS Family Day & Great News!

Today was our adoption agency's family day.  Twice a year the agency plans events for all the adoptive parents and waiting families to get together. There is one in the Spring and one in the Fall.  Today was our opportunity to introduce Will to the agency family for the first time.  All of the new adoptive families share their testimonies and I had to speak in front of the crowd.  I was very nervous and my voice was shaking because I had to speak into a microphone but Bryan said I did good.  Honestly, I have no idea what I said but I enjoyed sharing our adoption story with everyone there.  I loved getting to see all the new babies that have been placed with families this year and some of the returning families. Having these relationships with other adoptive families is very special.  We have a different kind of bond that you can only have with other adoptive parents.

This is Anna Barrett who belongs to Gretchen.  Gretchen played a big part in our adoption.  She used to work with the birthmothers for the agency and was involved in all domestic adoptions.  Now she is a stay-at-home mom to this precious little girl!  I loved all of her pink & leopard!

One of the first people that I connected with was Cheryl.  She is also a blogger and we joined the agency around the same time.  This is her precious daughter Lucy who Will was trying to grab.
He is already girl crazy!!

Somebody very special in our lives is Doris.  She is co-owner of the agency with her husband Jim and she is also involved in every domestic adoption.  Doris is the one who called us when Will's birthmother wanted to meet with us.  Her and Gretchen were there when Will was born and when he came home with us.  If it wasn't for these people and their wonderful work they do, we would not have Will with us today.  Doris & Gretchen will always have a very special place in our hearts!

After lunch and the presentations, Bryan and I took Will for a stroll around the pond at the park where the event was held.  It was a beautiful day!

Now for the best news!!  We found out today that we have a court day to finalize our adoption!  On November 21, our court system is having a special ceremony for adoptive families that are prepared to finalize their adoptions in honor of National Adoption Month.  All of our paperwork is in order and we are eligible for this special ceremony and we could not be more excited!!!  From our agency, there will be around 4 or 5 other families there on the same day.  I am really excited about sharing this special day with some familiar faces!  Bryan and I could not be happier right now!

  4. Ashley, I was going to say the same thing. I think Will looks like Stacy. Their hair looks exactly the same color in these pics. I also noticed his nose looks like Bryan's. I am so happy for all of you.

  5. So happy for you guys! Didn't get to chat with you yesterday, but I so enjoy your blog. We had to head out right after the family presentations to get to a Banquet last night. The event at the court house is really great, we did it in 2009 on Nov. 21 and it is my birthday too, so it was a special day!
