Quick Weekend Recap

This weekend has been super busy!

Friday:  Bryan and I met a bunch of our friends at a restaurant and had a great dinner! There was a lot of catching up and laughing.  It was nice to see everyone.

Saturday:  Bryan and I woke up to find this in our back yard.

Isn't he cute!

Then we got ready and went to a camping show with Bryan's mom and stepfather.  It was at the convention center and there was a ton of campers to tour.  We have a camper now that we love but can't wait to upgrade to something bigger sometime in the future.  On the way home, we hit the mall where Bryan got a new pair of Sperry's which he loves.  I got some new perfume because I was completely out.  I loved the way that Sarah Jessica Parker's perfume smelled.  Plus the bottle is super cute!

We ended the day by eating dinner and helping the in-laws with their new computer.  It was a great day!

Sunday:  Bryan and I began the day with a wonderful service at church and a wonderful lunch at the country club.  Then it was so beautiful here that we wanted to do something outside, so we decided to go play golf at the local Par 3 and my mom and dad went with us.  It was actually a lot of fun and the weather was amazing.  I believe it got up to 79 degrees and was actually hot on the golf course.

Of course tonight, Bryan grilled some chicken wings and brats with onions.  Mom and Dad ate dinner with us and now I am truly exhausted.  I am heading to the bathtub and straight to bed.

I hope everyone has a great week!

What I am looking forward to tonight...

First of all can I just say it's been one of those days.  Sometimes middle schoolers can be crazy!  I know most of you find that shocking but all I can say sometimes is WOW!
The good news is I am home and excited about a couple of things.

1.  First off I am cooking dinner tonight which actually we don't do much during the week.  We mostly cook on the weekends.  During the week, we will heat up some soup, eat a bowl of cereal, or eat a healthy choice meal.  Tonight though I am going old school and making...

Thats right, I am going to slave for hours and make my wonderful husband Hamburger Helper.  When Bryan and I first got married, we lived off this stuff because it is so cheap and easy.  We stopped eating them (I think for healthy reasons) but they were always really good.  Stroganoff is our favorite!

2.  After dinner, I am going to take a nice hot bath and read my book which is really getting good.  I started a novel called Smoke Screen by Sandra Brown which is a mystery/thriller.

3.  Tonight TV is going to be challenging.  At 8:00 there are two shows on that I want to watch.

All I can say is thank goodness for DVR!  Also tonight, Bryan and I love Modern Family that comes on at 9:00.  It is so funny!

I hope everyone has a great night!

Waiting...

Everyday when I get to work, I lay my cell phone on my desk and put it on silence.  Everyday I think today could be the day when the agency calls.  Today could be the day that Bryan calls and said the agency called him.  Today could be the day that our case worker calls us and they have us a baby or they want us to meet with a birth mother.  Throughout the day I check my phone to make sure I haven't missed a phone call or a text message.  There is a green light that flashes on my phone when I have either an email, text, missed call, or voice mail. Whenever I do see the green light, for just a second, my heart races.  I am almost hesitant to check it because I want it to be about the adoption so badly.  In the back of mind, I know it is nothing major but for just a second I get so excited!  I can't wait for the day when I pick up my cell phone and there is good news.  I know its going to happen one day I just really hope it is one day soon!

Found One!

I found this clutch at Dillards yesterday afternoon and I think it is perfect.  The shiny metallic can go with everything.

I didn't take many pictures last night at the wedding but here's one.

The guys didn't go so it was just us women.  I did see lots of people that I hadn't seen in a while which was a lot of fun.  The bride and groom looked great and we had a good time.

New Wedding Accessory

Tonight I have a wedding and I have to admit, I love a wedding!  I love the dresses, decorations, friends, and food.  The happy couple is a sweet, sweet girl who is in my circle prayer group at church and she is marrying a guy who I went to high school with.  They will be a beautiful couple!

So I woke up this morning ,of course, thinking about what I was going to wear.  I have it narrowed down to two different dresses.  One is black and the other one is shiny grey.  Either one is comfortable and easy to wear (which is important to me now the older I get).  But I want one new accessory!  An over sized clutch!  I have been wanting one for a while but didn't have a reason to buy one but now I do.  So I am getting dressed and heading to the mall.  Nothing like waiting to the last minute!

This is what I was thinking...

I love the different colors because sometimes I don't like for my outfit to be so matchy-matchy. Also, I don't want it to be too dressy so I can I carry it with any outfit.  It will be great for going out to dinner or other parties.  But I think at this point I might just have to see what I can find.  Wish me luck!

Congratulations! & Why does it have to be so hard?

I want to congratulate Linda & Chris on the placement of their son
Austin Lloyd.  Bryan and I ate lunch with Linda & Chris at our very first CAS workshop and they were such a nice couple.  We are so excited for them! Check out pictures at the agency blog, Waiting on God, Waiting on Placement.

On another note...
Since I have been sick, I haven't been back to the YMCA.  Instead of going tonight (since I do feel better), Bryan and I are ordering out Mexican food! Why is it so difficult to get back in a routine when you get out of it for a couple of days?  Bryan and I were doing so good watching what we were eating and exercising every night.  Why does it have to be so hard?  Well, I am determined that next week, we are getting back in the routine.  I was actually down a few pounds and I can't afford to get lazy and put them right back on.  Summer is just right around the corner and I can't wait to spend it at the beach (hopefully with our new baby)!

Tomorrow is Friday and there is no more Saturday school, Yeah!

Roxy's Playdate!

The weather was so nice today!  I believe it was around 65 degrees, that is great for February.  We are all getting spring fever around here.

When I got home from work I went outside with Roxy to just sit in the sun for a while.  Charlie, the neighbor's cat, came over to play for a little while this afternoon.  Roxy is so funny with the cat.  She jumps and sniffs at Charlie constantly.  Thank goodness Charlie is a tolerant cat because Roxy can be pretty annoying!

They are so cute together!

Prayer Request

I wanted to share with you an email that received today.  It is from a concerned mother that I work with and I asked her permission to share on my blog.  I told her that I have many followers who will add Erica to their prayer list.

Prayer warriors,

Would you please pray for my Erica? We think she has the flu. She went to the doctor on campus yesterday and they refused to do a flu test on her! She told them that her boyfriend had tested positive for the flu and that she had been taking care of him all weekend (therefore, she had been exposed). I am FURIOUS that they would not test her! I mean, she could have been in the early stages of it, you know? As you both know, when you are in college, you just can't afford to be sick. I am going down after work today to check on her and to take some "comfort" foods and tylenol/nyquil, hoping that she will eat something. I know she is 19 (and will be 20 soon) but, she is still my child and I worry about her. I am soooo thankful that I have such awesome prayer warriors that I can ask to pray when I am in need!

In Him,

Gail
Proverbs 3:5&6

Thanks guys!

Our Valentines

Today has been pretty yucky for me.  I didn't go to work today because I am sick.  My head is full of congestion and I have a sore throat.  So I have pretty much laid around all day on this Valentine's Day.

Bryan and I never do gifts for each other on Valentine's Day but he did cook an outstanding meal for me tonight!

He was in charge and even stopped at the grocery store on his way home from work.

Shrimp bread!

Grilled salmon & rice.

Later tonight, we will have chocolate chip cookies and milk.

Bryan did a great job tonight.  Thanks honey for a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner.

Maybe next year, we will have another special little Valentines in our lives!

Grammys

Tonight the Grammy awards come on TV and it is one of my favorite award shows!  I love all the different types of music and I love to see what the stars are wearing.  My night begins with the Red Carpet coverage where they interview all the different stars and ask them who they are wearing.  Then on to the show which requires me to stay up a little bit later than normal but it's worth it.

Watching award shows is something I grew up doing with my mom.  We would always pop a big bowl of popcorn and lounge around while watching the show.  We would critique the stars and talk about their performances and of course their outfits!

The weather is beautiful here and it is suppose to be warmer all this week.
I hope everyone enjoys their week and has a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!

Saturday

Well today was the last make-up school day for the snow days we missed in January.  Saturday school is not terrible because it's only half a day.  But getting out of the bed is very difficult.  It's like my body knows its Saturday and that I should not be moving at 6:00 am!  The kids were great and now we are just hoping we have no more snow for this year.

As soon as I came home from school, I took a great nap!  Now very rarely do I nap but my sinuses are crazy right now so I wasn't feeling that great.  My two hour nap was so peaceful, Bryan wasn't home and Roxy of course napped with me.

Bryan grilled us a steak tonight which was great!  Then we went to Scott & Angela's house to hang out. The guys watched the race and Angela and I played with Braden.

I just took two nighttime sinus pills so I will be asleep very soon. Hopefully they will help me sleep better than I did last night.  Waking up and not being able to breathe is no fun! I hope I feel better tomorrow.

Great Night & 100th Post!

Tonight was great!  Gretchen and Doris from our adoption agency, Christian Adoption Services, came to my ladies group at church and shared some wonderful information about the agency.  I invited them to come to share the agencies mission and their love for children.  The night was also a baby shower for the agency.  The adoption agency always needs supplies to help them take care of the newborns while they are in their care. We had wonderful food, great speakers, and a ton of baby presents for the agency.  We had twenty-eight wonderful ladies show up tonight.

Me, Doris (co-founder of agency), & Gretchen (pregnancy counselor)

My mom Bonny, Sandra, Me & Judy
We prepared the food for the meeting.

All the gifts that were donated to the agency!

A big thank you goes out to Gretchen & Doris for traveling tonight to spend some time with us.  I received so many positive comments tonight from the ladies. They really enjoyed your presentation!

Also this is my 100th post on my blog!  Pretty cool!

Excited about Tomorrow!

Tomorrow night I have my monthly meeting with my women's circle group at church and we are going to have some special visitors!  Some very special people from our adoption agency are coming to talk to the group about their mission as an agency and we are having them a baby shower!  The agency is always in need of some baby supplies for their foster moms so we want to help out.  I am very excited about sharing something so special in my life with a group of women who are so supportive of Bryan and I during this process.  Pictures and more info coming soon!

Super Bowl Fun

Bryan and I had some friends and family over tonight to watch the game tonight.

The most important part of the evening was of course the food!  Everything turned out to be great!

Couldn't Resist

On sale at Kohls

Surprise!

My wonderful husband ordered me a camera connection kit for my new IPad.  It was a total surprise!

This is all I need to connect my camera straight to the IPad and upload my photos.

He's a keeper!

Rainy Day Dinner

It has rained all day today! I could not wait to get home and stay home. So I went to the grocery store for a few things on my way home from work and I ended up buying things for some taco soup.

Here is the recipe I used:

1 lb. hamburger meat
1 can of corn
1 can of black beans
1 can of red beans
1 can of Rotel
1 can of tomato sauce
1 can of crushed tomatoes
1 package of taco seasoning
1 small onion chopped
shredded cheddar cheese
sour cream
tortilla chips

Bryan made nachos with his soup.  It ended up being a little thick!

I think tonight is going to be pajamas and movie night.  The great end to a busy week!

Not much to say...

So I am discovering that it is really hard to blog daily.  Some days I just don't have anything to say.
It seems that all my days are pretty routine lately.
Work, YMCA, Dinner, Bed

Work is settling down a bit.  I do have to present a workshop tomorrow after school and as soon as thats over I will be able to relax.

I have been trying to go to the Y as much as possible because summer is just around the corner!

Monday night, I did make some yummy chicken.  I put some chicken breast in the crock pot with some Italian dressing and a little water.  They cooked all day and were really tender!  It's a super easy recipe and great for a weekday meal.

That's about it for now!
